FEDERAL TAX CREDIT UPDATES
Energy Upgrade California is HERE! 2011
Eligible Technologies: Incentives are available to SoCalGas and SCE customers who
complete certain energy-
Details: Energy Upgrade California is a new incentive program for shared customers of Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) and Southern California Edison (SCE). If you are not a shared customer of SoCalGas and SCE, check with your water and power utility for participation details.

EXPIRED DEC. 31, 2010: “Energy Efficiency”
Eligible Technologies: Water Heaters, Furnaces, Boilers, Heat pumps, Air conditioners, Building Insulation, Windows, Doors, Roofs, Circulating fans used in a qualifying furnace.
Maximum Incentive: Aggregate amount of credit for all technologies placed in service in 2009 and 2010 combined is limited to $1,500 (30% of cost).
Details: Must be an existing home & your principal residence. New construction and rentals do not qualify.
How to Apply: File the 2010 IRS Form 5695 and submit it with your 2010 taxes (by April 15, 2011). On the 2010 1040 form, the residential energy tax credit (from Form 5695) is claimed on line 52. Save your receipts and the Manufacturer’s Certification Statement to submit with Form 5695.
PROPOSED TAX CREDITS: “Home Star/Cash for Caulking”
Eligible Technologies: Weatherization (insulation), air conditioners, heating systems, washing machines, refrigerators, windows, etc.
Maximum Incentive: Aggregate amount of credit for all technologies placed in service in 2010 can potentially be limited to $12,000 (50% of cost).
Details: This information is yet to be determined by Congress. We will keep you posted as new information becomes available.

SUSTAINABILITY EVENTS

Event: This year the Green Expo will continue to focus on issues of sustainability and conservation, and strive to lessen the event’s environmental impact. They will be expanding on last year’s efforts of using recycled materials, providing recycling on site, and hosting educational presentations centered on green topics. Further efforts toward zero waste within the event, and additional green boating presentations will be added to the agenda. The event will be FREE on opening day all other days will be $12 at the gates, children 12 and under are free.

Event: Free for Santa Monica (Donations Appreciated)/$50 Los Angeles. Made possible by a grant from the Mar Vista Community Council. The Green Living Workshop covers the following topics, one per week: Water, Energy, Waste, Chemicals, Transportation, and Shopping & Food. Learn about the problems related to each of the above topics on a global, national and local scale. Then with the help of the WorksBook, a comprehensive sustainability primer that all participants receive, review ten related solutions. You’ll also get sustainability tools to assist you with the solutions discussed during the workshop.
